Michael Amantea B.Arch OAA, MRAIC

Michael Amantea was born in Toronto, Canada in 1977. He studied at the University of Toronto where in 2001 he received a Bachelor of Architecture degree with honor standings. Before launching his own practice in 2012, Michael was a lead associate with many significant Canadian architectural practices including Hariri Pontarini Architects and Ian MacDonald Architect. Michael’s portfolio demonstrates a diversity of projects, ranging from large-scale complex mixed-use developments to site specific private residences. Michael has received a number of awards including an Ontario Association of Architects Award of Excellence, a Wood Works Residential Wood Design Award and a Wood Design Award of Merit.
Evelyn Hofmann BAS, M.Arch, OAA Intern Architect

Evelyn Hofmann is an OAA Intern Architect and a graduate of the University of Waterloo Bachelor of Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture programs. Her thesis explored the intersection of utopian architectural history and critical urban theory with an interest in the contemporary material phenomena of migration and borders in France. This research was awarded commendations by the University of Waterloo as well as the RCA Arthur Erickson Travel Scholarship, AIA Henry Adams Medal and the RAIC Honour Roll. Evelyn has experience working in architecture offices in Canada, Germany and the UK. Her more recent professional training has focused on complex digital fabrication and detailed architectural millwork.
Melissa Ng BAS, M.Arch, OAA Intern Architect

Melissa Ng received a Bachelor of Architectural Studies in 2009 and a Master of Architecture in 2014 from the University of Waterloo. Her thesis entitled ‘On Making’, focused on the importance of direct material engagement in architectural education. The research earned her the Alpha Rho Chi medal for professional promise. Recently, Melissa was associate at KPMB Architects where she worked extensively on the Boston University Center for Computing and Data Sciences. She has been an adjunct studio professor for the University of Waterloo and has guest lectured at various institutions. Melissa is also a woodworker and has built furniture solely using hand tools and traditional wood joinery. She approaches projects with a careful attention to detail and strives to apply a craftsperson’s mindset to her daily practice of architecture.
